Well, our kitchen remodel has finally started! YIPPIE! I am excited/nervous/already exhausted! We started tonight by going to Lowe's and getting all of the supplies we need to get started on this project. We bought the Giani Granite Countertop paint.
Our "new" home, has been remodeled everywhere except the kitchen. With us being newlyweds and just buying our first home we don't have the money for a full kitchen remodel. The worst part of our kitchen is the UGLY countertops. They are a horrible color that we hate. I had heard about the Giani Countertop Paint on a blog that I was reading. I didn't think it could be true, and I started doing some very very serious research. I couldn't find a single bad review. So, we decided to try it. If it works, great! If it doesn't work we had to replace the countertop anyways. Win, Win if you ask me!
Tonight we taped off the area, scrubbed the countertops with SOS pads, and removed all old caulk. Tomorrow morning (EARLY by the way!), we are going to start with the first coat (primer). Then we are going to help my parents finally move all the way out of our old house. Then we will come back and get started on our countertops. The first coat has to dry for 8 hours. Check back tomorrow for pictures. I am taking a ton of pictures, and might make a video too! I am so excited to be a homeowner, and get to be the DIY couple we can be....even if my husband is most of the DIY! HA!
Maybe with my remodel, I will start blogging more, and actually get readers....What do we think?!?!
Hey Tara! The first section looks awesome! However, this reminds me of an apartment that Rob and I lived in when we were your age (LONG time ago...HA!) Anyway, the countertops had been painted and if we scrubbed hard, scraped it the paint would peel off! Just a word of caution and something to ask the Lowe's or HD guys about...how to protect the countertop and keep it from peeling. And I'm sure the paint you're buying is a better quality than what my apartment had. Good luck! It looks so cool!
