January Baby?!?!

January baby now?!?!  Looking more likely that our little Brantley will be coming in January, not in February.  All of my test results from last week looked good, but I am still on level 1 bedrest.  I am so sick of this.  It is difficult to just sit/lay here when I feel fine.  I tried to ask the doctor if it could be just white coat syndrome, but he said there was no way to tell and we needed to take precautions.  He says I have gestational hypertension.  I became pretty upset at my appointment today.

He sent me to the hospital for my now weekly stress test.  We also started steroid shots to build Brantley's lungs if he does come early.  I have to go back tomorrow for my second round of steroid shots.  My stress test this time did not go well, but I was pretty upset.  My blood pressure was high, as I laid there crying.  Trent called while I was at the hospital, and heard how upset I was he came rushing to the hospital (I told him NOT to come,)  I did feel better and started calming down once I got to talk to him and see him.  He is most of the time, my relaxation medication.  He is always so calm, but I think he was a little nervous because he was at the hospital in no time.  Trenton is amazing!  Brantley and I are fine, but he is probably coming early since I have blood pressure spikes.  Our small goal is 2 weeks, and big goal is 4 weeks.  So, here is to 2 to 4 weeks of continued boredom.

Nursery is looking GOOD!

Well, I know a lot of people have been asking me for a nursery update, and the have been wanting to see the finished product.  Well, we are not totally finished, but REALLY close.  All we lack now is decor and buying the bookshelf for his room.  Trent still has to put together the glider my parents bought for the room, but it is really coming together.  So, here is the recap and update!

As you may recall we started with UGLY wall paper and a popcorn ceiling.  Here is the before picture.

We took out all of this ugly last blog, and then started with texture.
This picture is the texture over the paint samples we did before we ever started.  It makes it easier to see the texture.

Then it was time to start the primer and paint.  This took what seemed like forever because of the different colors we were using in the room.

The picture below is the first day of paint.  The light blue is the ceiling!

Next came the tan color, and brown stripe.  Talk about time consuming, and we aren't even near finished!

The stripe turned out SOOO good.  Talk about stressful!

My mother-in-law wanted to put clouds on the ceiling for our little one to look at when he is in his crib.  They look SO good, and she worked so hard!  They turned out AWESOME!

Trent painted the ceiling fan.  It was SOOO ugly before, and now it matches perfectly!  He is so talented!

 Finished product before adding furniture!
And FINALLY here is the good stuff!

In this corner will go the glider my parents bought for our little guy, and the bookshelf we still have to go and buy.

This is his closet.  The chest of drawers has been mine for YEARS!  Trent refinished it to match the room.  As always he did an amazing job.

I can't wait to see our little Brantley sleeping in his crib!

As we finish the decorating I will be posting more to the blog!  I hope you enjoyed seeing Brantley's room!  We are so proud of it, and cant wait to see him in his room!  Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to show off more!

Mixed Emotions

Well, I have been putting this blog off since I got home.  We went to the doctor this morning.  As you may remember I had high blood pressure last appointment, and Dr. Hermann wanted to see me to see if it improved. We were also having our growth sonogram.

The growth sonogram went well.  It was really neat to see our little guy in 3D.  Although he didn't really give us the best picture because he kept putting his arm in front of his face.  Maybe he is camera shy like his father!

Then came the not so fun part.  My blood pressure was high again.  Not as high, and had dropped to normal by the time we left the doctor's office.  I can't help but wonder if it is me working myself up when I go to the doctor because it seems odd to me that it always comes back down to good by the end of the appointment.  My doctor said that the growth sono showed a very healthy boy.  He is already 5 pounds, and measuring 2 weeks ahead.  Dr. Hermann wants to check everything to make sure that I am not getting preeclampsia.  So, now I have to do a 24 hour urine collection, and go to the hospital tomorrow for more testing.  I have to have a non stress test and blood work ups.

He also wants me to stay at home, and not get out.  He said NO NESTING!  That is easier said then done because my house looks like a BOMB went off since we have had a construction zone.  Now that the construction is over I want to get my house cleaned, and I am not allowed to clean.  I am only suppose to hang out on the sofa or bed, and no going out in public.  He also said that depending on the results I am probably not going back to work.  Talk about stressing me out.  If I don't work that means very little money coming in, and that makes it hard to pay the bills.  I have to not think about that, and do my best not to worry.

Dr. Hermann also said after we look at all of the test results we will look into whether we need to start on steroid injections and if Baby Rice needs to come early.  I am hoping that all of this comes back normal, and I am just having White Coat Syndrome.  As I keep telling myself though, I will do whatever it takes to make sure that our little guy is safe!  So, for now that is RELAXING!  So, if you feel so inclined feel free to pray for my little guy and myself.  I pray that this all comes back normal, and I can go back to work on January 3rd.

Stay tuned for the nursery update.  I will start on that blog soon!  I go back to Dr. Hermann on Thursday the 29th to review all of the test results and decide where we go from here.  So, I will update more then about Baby Rice's progress.

Doctor update

Well, today was my last full day of work for 2011.  Also, I had my first two week check up on our little man.  I got there and they checked my vitals.  My blood pressure was high again.  Dr. Hermann said not to worry and we would check it at the end of my appointment.

We checked the babies heart rate and it was good.  We talked about what is coming up next in my appointments, and we had to discuss who I was going to use for the remainder of my pregnancy.  I had a ton of questions to ask him about the remainder of the pregnancy and delivery.

After the appointment he asked me to sit for a few minutes to de-stress.  Then we retook my blood pressure it dropped 10 points in 10 minutes.  Dr. Hermann liked that the numbers dropped and so fast, but is concerned that two appointments in a row it has been high, but he was glad it dropped.  So, he wants to see me next week.  We discussed possible bed rest for the next few weeks if next week isn't better.  He said I could be a high stress person, and that isn't good.  I can thank my mother for the high stress....I get it from her....thanks Mom!!! HA! JK!  If it is high next week he is sending me to the hospital for more testing.  He told me not to worry yet, and we will know more next Thursday.

The good news I get to see my little man next week on an ultrasound, and it will be 3D/4D.  I am SOOOO excited!!!!!  Trent and I can't wait to see our little guy.  I wonder who he looks like.

So, doctors orders for the next week....STAY AWAY FROM STRESS!  Should be EASIER after Friday.  Also, driving may need to be eliminated....I am having major road rage issues.

Last Monthly Appointment

Well, today was my last monthly appointment for Baby Rice.  We will now go to the doctor every two weeks until sometime in January.  In January I will start going for my weekly appointments to see when our little guy will be here.

Today I met with Dr. Hermann, he is my doctor while Dr. Nabors is on maternity leave.  I now have to decide who I want to stay with starting December 26th.  Dr. Hermann went over my 3 hour gestational diabetes test results.  I passed the whole test, but failed hour 2 by 5 points.  He said that I did pass, but we will watch the baby to make sure he continues being healthy.  He said everything looks great right now.  Then we had to talk about his philosophy for the next trimester.

He spoke to me about the differences in him and Dr. Nabors.  I like both doctors, but Dr. Hermann offers a 3D ultrasound but Dr. Nabors doesn't do anymore ultrasounds unless the baby is showing complications.  I told Trent that could be the deciding factor.  My worry is I have heard from some that Dr. Hermann can be rather harsh on the baby Mama weight gain.  I am VERY sensitive about my weight even before pregnancy, but I am taking it VERY hard about gaining weight.  I am afraid he might not be sensitive and understanding.  Dr. Hermann seems to take more time with me and really break things down into terms anyone could understand.  I guess Trent and I have a big decision to make.  My blood pressure was high at the start of the appointment, but we retested at the end and it was awesome!  I had just learned of a school mates passing, and I had a very busy day at work today.  So, my next appointment is December 14th.  :-)

The nursery is coming along.  My father-in-law and husband are working on texturing tonight.  They are hoping to have that finished tonight, and we will primer Friday night.  Painting will take place this weekend if all goes as planned.

Also, our little guy has a name, but we have to decide on the spelling....stay tuned for the big announcement once we announce his name.  I can't wait to meet my little guy!

Baby Room Coming Along!

The nursery got started yesterday!  It is going to be awesome!  Our goal is to be completely finished by Christmas, and be ready for our little guy!

A little of a back story.  Trent and I bought our first home in December of 2010, and we love our first home!  It is a 3 bedroom 2 bath, and perfect for us.  The only problem is lack of storage, but my husband is pretty creative on storing things!  When trying to decide where to put our little one Trent and I couldn't agree at first.  He wanted to use the smallest room in the house, and I wanted to use the bigger room.  Trent's point was a good one, babies take up less room and when we are ready for baby #2 the nursery would be ready and we can move baby #1 to the bigger room.  So, Trent won this one!  The smallest room was the ONLY room in the house to have wallpaper.  Luckily, it was only an "accent" wall.  The wall paper was SOOO ugly.  I am not sad to see it go!

We had originally planned to start on the nursery the first weekend in November because October was so crazy for both of our families.  Well, my in-laws are awesome at the remodeling we want to do in the nursery. My Father-in-law has had to work for 20 something days in a row without a single day off, and we had to wait for a day off.  This weekend looked like it would be the weekend, but he had to go to work at the last minute, and my Mother-In-Law got sick.  We thought we would have to put it off another weekend, but my awesome Brother-In-Law volunteered to come over.

So, yesterday we got started!
This picture is from when we very first moved in.  The ugly curtains came with the house.
This is with my curtains in the room.
Here is the ugly wall paper!

So, yesterday we started by taking off the old wall paper and the popcorn ceiling.

Getting started!

Bye, Bye Wallpaper!!!!!

Bye, Bye Popcorn!

More of the wallpaper is gone...thank God there was only one wall of this stuff.  It did come off well, but it was very time consuming!

Another ceiling shot!

Yesterday's finished product!!!!

This week we are going to re-texture the whole room.  The wall has an ugly flower texture, and I can't wait to see it go!  We should be painting by next weekend!  Here is the sample of what we will paint the walls when we are finished texturing.  I am so excited, and I love watching it all come together!  The top color is a light tan, but the previous lighting was horrible!

Weekend fun!

Well, here lately we have been super busy.  Last weekend my Mother and Sister threw me a shower, and on Tuesday my co-workers threw me a shower.  Our little guy is so lucky already, and he isn't here yet!  I can't wait to get all of it set up in our nursery.

This weekend Trent and I were so busy, and had so much fun!  My poor husband had to do so much, and he isn't lucky like me since I get the week off! :-)  We started our Saturday out with going to the Rushings to feed cows. (One of my very favorite things to do!)  Then we went to IHOP, and I got awesome pumpkin pancakes (another fav!)  Then we had to go run some errands before running home to let me get ready and look pretty for childbirth class.

We had our childbirth class on Saturday.  We learned a lot.  Trent said he really learned a lot, but could have done without visuals....HA!  His calling was NOT to be a doctor...LOL!  I loved the tour of the Labor and Delivery floor.  The hospital we are delivering at has only been open a year, and it is so nice.  The class makes me want our little guy here now, but I know he needs to stay safe inside of my tummy.  I can't wait to meet our little guy in February.  Although childbirth class was a little scary thinking about what is going to happen to my body in just a couple of months.

Our class ended early, and we had a really good Babies R Us coupon that was only good this weekend.  So, we went to Allen to go shopping for our little man.  We went to buy our travel system.  Which that is the stroller, car seat carrier, and car seat base.  We bought a couple of bottles.  Our only complaint about going to Babies R Us is we waste SO much time waiting in line or for help in that store. My husband, after waiting for almost 30 minutes climbed the ladder himself to get the box we needed.  It has been that way every time we go to this store, but it is hard not to go there since they have so many great baby things.  Then Trent and I decided to go on a "date."  We went to eat at Chuy's in Plano.  It was SOOOOO stinking good!  This preggers LOVED it.  It was just what little mister wanted!  Trent and I had the best time just talking and truly enjoying each other.  He is truly my best friend, and I love talking with him.  We then went to go shopping for the fun of it.  We went to Guitar City and Cavendar's.  Cavendar's was SO much fun!  We looked at little cowboy boots...our little one needs some so so so bad!  It was difficult though because baby Mama wanted a new pair of boots, but there is no point right now with my feet.  I did take the time to show my hubby what he could get me after little guy is here! HA!  I love my hubby so much, and can't imagine me without him!

Today, Sunday, we were super busy again.  We were busy with fun stuff too!  CHRISTMAS HAS ARRIVED AT THE RICE HOUSE!  This is our first time to decorate in our house, and have a tree has a married couple.  Last year we moved during our first Christmas and didn't really decorate.  If you know me at all, you know I am OBSESSED with Christmas!  I am worn out, but my house looks amazing!  Trent is working on putting up the lights on the house, but we were a couple of strands short.  We will have to finish this week when it is not raining.  My in-laws also came to our house today to look at the nursery.  We have our game plan for next weekend.  We are going to get the room started next weekend.  We are going to re-texture the whole room, getting rid of the popcorn ceiling and ugly wall texture.  We should get that all done next weekend, and then paint the following weekend!  I am SO excited!

Long update, but we have a lot going on.  This week I am working on getting this house organized because adding baby things has thrown me off, and I must get organized.  I also have to clean out the babies closet so that we can organize all of his clothes.

Good Report

Our little boy is growing strong, and doing well.  We went to the doctor today to check out the pain I have been having.  Dr. Herman checked my cervix and ran some test, but said all the test should come back negative.  He said that the pain I am having is the base line, and if it gets worse that is when we will worry from here on out.  The ultrasound wasn't very fun it was just looking at my cervix.  We really wanted to see our little boy again, but at least we know everything is going well.  I don't know if I passed my gestational diabetes test since I was the last appointment of the day, but hopefully it went well too!

Other news, Trent and I are working on paint colors for the nursery.  We have 2 of the 3 colors picked out.  I am unsure of the tan color, and might keep looking.  My parents told us they are buying our bedding, and that is awesome.  As soon as my in-laws are available we are going to start re-texturing the nursery.  My mom and sister are throwing me a shower VERY soon.  So much is coming up, and it is all going so fast!  He will be here before we know it!

Baby ____ Wayne Rice

It has been a while since I have updated on our babies progress.  I went to my temporary baby doctor today for the first time.  He was nice, but different from Dr. Nabors.   He was very kind, and was very good at explaining things to me.  He is worried about a pain I have been having, and wants me to come back next week.  We are going to do an ultrasound and blood work.  I also get to do my blood glucose test...Oh what fun from what I have heard.  He wasn't overly concerned, but wants me to take it easy and we are going to keep an eye on it.

We are throwing around some names, and it is so hard to pick THE name!  We know the middle and last name. We think we have narrowed the name down to 2 choices.  We shall see!

Weird side effect of pregnancy thus far I am beyond SUPER IN LOVE with my AMAZING husband!  I didn't say it was bad, but I love this man more and more everyday.  I hate to be away from him.  I feel like a really lucky woman, and he is so good with dealing with my crazy moments (tears aren't his favorite though!).  He is going to be an awesome Daddy, and I cant wait!  I can honestly say that after 11 years with the same man, I love him more today than ever!

I will post more next week after we go see Dr. Herman again.  Hopefully we will have good news! :-)

Baby Rice is...

Most of you might have seen my announcement on Facebook that yesterday was our anatomy scan.  At this scan we got to see detailed images of our baby!  It was SUPER neat.  The things she showed us about our baby was amazing.  How can a machine get a close up of each section of the babies brain, and check to make sure they are developing on track?  When it came time for her to check out the abdomen the sex was revealed...BOY!  Trent and I both said...Really?  She said "OH YEAH!  He is a boy!"  How she knew that the penis was a penis is BEYOND me, but she said she was VERY sure.  Then the doctor came in to review all of the shots, and look at the baby again.  He said our baby was right on track, and looked very healthy.  He said he couldn't see anything wrong, and said he couldn't foresee any problems for our little one.  So, it was a GREAT day!

After the anatomy scan, Trent and I went to Buy Buy Baby.  We had to buy something for our little boy on the day we found out he was a him!  We bought some SUPER cute outfits, and found the bedding we want for our little one.  We didn't buy it, and I hope they still have it when we are ready for the bedding.  Trent is really into remote control vehicles as a hobby, and has always loved flying.  Also, my wonderful Paw Paw gave my sister and I wooden airplanes for Christmas one year, and we have always kept them.  We are going to hang them in the nursery, and Paw Paw will be watching our little man.  Here is the nursery set we want, and hopefully we will get it when it is time.  It just went on Clearance and that scares me.

After Buy Buy Baby, we went to tell our parents.  It was a lot of fun!  My sweet Daddy got me a plant for the big day.  Daddy is so sweet, and is thrilled to have a boy to share toys with! HA!

I know that Trenton is going to be an awesome Daddy, and he will guide our son to be a wonderful man just like Trent.

Now onto picking a name.  We have only 2 boy names picked, and so now the search for names is on.  Trent is THE PICKIEST MAN ALIVE, so wish us luck!

Baby Rice Update!

Well, I haven't updated in over a month.  Bad me!  Baby Rice is 20 weeks tomorrow.  YIPPIE!  Half way there!  It is going so fast, and so slow at the same time.  It seems like I just found out we were having a baby, but at the same time I feel like February will NEVER get here.  I went to the baby doctor today.  All is well so far.  The baby's heart rate is still 155.  My Mom says that it is going to be a girl.  She said I ran 155 the entire time she was pregnant with me!  We will find out on September 27th at 2:30.  I am so excited, and we can't wait!

I feel so much better then the past couple of weeks.  Two weeks ago I had a horrible sinus infection, and last week I had the stomach bug.  It was horrible.  I am finally feeling  better this week.  Not 100 percent, but better.  I don't think any pregnant woman is 100%, but I am around 85% or so.

Be sure to check back next week for our big announcement....BOY OR GIRL!  Which one will Baby Rice be?

BIG NEWS!!!!! Also Trenton's birthday update!

First comes love, next comes marriage, and then.......

Comes the BABY CARRIAGE!!!!!  Trent and I are having a BABY!!!!!!  We are so excited!

The baby is due in February!

We got these results below on June 9th.

I went to the doctor on June 10th to make sure the at home tests were true.  Sure enough it was!

We had our first sonogram on June 28th.  Here is our little one!

We haven't gotten to see little one since then, but I got to hear the heart beat on Thursday, Aug. 4th.  Little one is very hyper apparently!  She/He kept doing flips, and we had a hard time finding the heart beat.  It was so neat to hear this!

This has been a neat journey so far.  I felt horrible for all of June and most of July, but now I am back to feeling much better!  We shall see how it goes once I go back to work!

I decided to announce on Facebook yesterday on Trent's Birthday!  I had a lot of people wondering if I was announcing or not, but today I will make it official with this post.  I think Trent had an awesome birthday!  All of his best friends came out to dinner with us last night at City Limits.  It was SO much fun!  We don't hang out near enough!  Here are some of our pictures from last night.  Please keep reading our blog for updates on our little one!

Hopefully this will stick

Hopefully this will stick.....

I have tried blogging off and on for years, and I have been catching up on a couple of friends blogs.  I decided it was time for me to give it a shot again, and hope for more readers.  Currently I think I have 1 reader, but there are a lot of exciting things to talk about now so I hope this helps people want to read.

So, in 2 weeks I go back to work!  This summer has gone super fast, and I can't believe it is almost over.  I had a lot of me time this summer that was very nice, and I am actually ready to go back!

In June my little sister got married.  It was a fun filled weekend in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  In July my cousin came to visit from California, and I hadn't seen her since the early 90's.  It was great to catch up.  Trent and I went to the lake quite a bit this summer with friends and family.  If I had my way we would live at the lake during the summer, but we did go almost every other weekend.

Other than that I took it easy for most of the summer.

Next Saturday is Trent's birthday, and I hope it is great for him.  Stay tuned in for that blog.  I will blog about our fun filled weekend.

FINISHED!

Well, we are finally finished, and it is great!  Before I reveal our finished product I thought I would give everyone our thoughts on the process.  Would we do it again?  ABSOLUTELY!  Would we do things a little different?  Probably.  If we did this again we would we would probably sponge on the colors a little differently.  We would calm it down a little more, but that is what we like about this kit you can make it your own.  The sponge process is time consuming.  Our kitchen is 34 square feet counter surface, and it took us 3 1/2 hours.  The primer and top coats each took 30 minutes.  So for a total of about 5 hours we have a great new counter top surface.

Here is our reveal.  The only thing we have left to do is to re-caulk the tile where they tile and countertop meet.  We now have to wait 72 hours to lightly use our counter tops and 14 days for full use.  The next project for the Rice house is a fence.  Stay tuned for more DIY goodness!

It is also really difficult to see in the pictures, but the top coat is SUPER glossy, and I LOVE it!

Here it is!  Also at the end I have pasted the link to look into your own Giani kit to fix your countertops!

This picture is looking in from the living room.

We are very proud!  The website for the company is http://gianigranite.com/

Kitchen Remodel Day 2

WOW!  LONG Day!  We woke up early this morning to put on the primer.  It was very easy, and only took us about 35 minutes.  The primer takes 8 hours to dry.  So, we went to help my parents move the rest of their shop from their old house to their new house.

When we got home it was time to start on applying the colors.  This was a learning experience, and very time consuming.  My husband is exhausted!  If we were to do this again, we would have done some different things with our colors, but it still turned out well!

Ready for some pictures?!?!  Here we go!

Here are all of the BEFORE images.  This is before we did anything.  Do you now see why we wanted a change?

Now on to prep work.

To prep, we had to take out the old caulking, clean with an SOS pad, and taping off the area.  The plastic drops down to cover the cabinets, but I didn't take pictures of that part.  I guess you can use your imagination! HA!

Saturday we started the primer.  Here is the primer step!

Then we had to wait 8 hours, and then to start the colors.  You have to sponge on each color one at a time in 3 foot sections.

Above was the first color in the first section.  Below is the First and Second colors together.

Below is the finished section.

You will have to wait to see the finished product because I want to show the whole kitchen off when it is finished, but enjoy this lovely section!
